A funeral service for Lucille “Lucy” Ladwig, 90, of Chickasha, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Smith officiating.
Lucille “Lucy” Williams was born July 5, 1933 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Don and Rubie (Speaks) Williams. She passed peacefully from this life on April 6, 2024 in Blanchard, Oklahoma surrounded by her family.
In 1939, Rubie married Orville Cox and moved to Atchison, Kansas, where he raised Lucy, her brother Bill and sister Louise as his own.
Lucy graduated from Atchison High School in 1952. On May 5, 1955, she married Robert “Bob” Ladwig, Sr. in Troy, Kansas and they were married over 68 years and were blessed with five children, eleven grandchildren and was GiGi to 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
They moved to Chickasha in 1961. Lucy worked at Grady Memorial Hospital for 15 years as a nurse’s aide and five years as a ward clerk in ICU, retiring in 1994.
Lucy loved to read, crochet, embroidery, and listen to good music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Louise, brother Bill, daughters Rae McElroy in August 2021 and Irene Ladwig in December 2023.
Loved ones left to remember her are her husband, Robert, son-in-law Dale McElroy, daughter Patricia Lee and significant other Wes Akins, daughter and son-law Rebecca and Donny Wilhoit, son and daughter-in-law Robert Jr. and Donna Ladwig; the 48 grands; multiple nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
There will be viewing Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Following the service, Lucy’s choice was cremation, and those arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
