Funeral services for Lois Dean Merrell will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Alice Wendling officiating.
Lois Dean Merrell was born December 3, 1935 in El Reno, Oklahoma to James Merlin Bales and Enda Ella (Briggs) Bales. She passed away January 9, 2020 in Palm Springs, California.
Lois Dean Merrell grew up in Pocasset and became a school teacher. She loved horses, riding horses going to rodeos, gardening and dancing. Her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and visiting with her friends. Mother never met a stranger and she loved going to Palm Springs, California to visit her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. She loved Oklahoma and was a true Okie!
She married Charles Ardell Merrell on October 15, 1977 in Shattuck, Oklahoma.
Lois is preceded in death by her mother, Enda Ella Bales; father, James Merlin Bales; brother, James William Bales; daughter, Lois Charlene (Brown) Williams; granddaughter, Shelley Dean Williams; husband, Charles Ardell Merrell.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Kay (Brown) Fayazrad of Palm Springs, California; son, Charles Dwayne Brown of Oklahoma City; brother, Wayne Andrew Bales of Indiahoma; son-in-law, Amir M. Fayazrad of Palm Springs, California; granddaughter, Amy Dean Fayazrad; grandson, Ashlee Ace Fayazrad of Palm Springs, California; grandson, Joshua Dwayne Brown of McLoud, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Shelley Leann Brown of McLoud, Oklahoma; grandson, Michael Shane Merrell of Pocasset; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Interment in Mustang Cemetery will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
