Linda Sue Schmidt

d. December 29, 2022

A funeral service for Linda Sue Schmidt, 73, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Steve Ruby officiating.

Linda Sue (Unruh) Schmidt was born September 18, 1949 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clarence Unruh and Lula (Koehn) Unruh. She passed from this life on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at her home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Linda grew up in the Chickasha and Verden area. She attended Pioneer, Verden, and Chickasha schools. She married Richard Schmidt on August 11, 1970. They had three children.

Mom worked numerous jobs to help make ends meet, such as, switchboard operator, custodian, and drapery seamstress. Then she worked for the Delta Faucet Company for 20 years, working up to line supervisor. Her true calling was realized when she went back to school and earned her LPN license at the age of fifty-nine. She loved working at the Bethany Children’s Health Center. The children became very special to her and she spoke lovingly of them often. Mom retired in 2021.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, reading and wrangling her chickens. She shared everything she grew in the garden generously, including even her canned goods. She coerced us kids willingly to her house with food very often, because she was an amazing cook! She dearly loved being “Grammy” and always found time to share with her grandchildren, be it sporting events, dance recitals or just hanging out.

Linda loved the Lord and was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene in Chickasha for over 20 years. She served as a board member and Sunday school teacher for many years and wherever else she was needed. She dearly cherished her church family.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband Richard Schmidt, sisters Bethene Unruh and Geneva Schmidt and brother Curtis Unruh.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Scott and Mindy Schmidt of El Reno and their children Bailey and Easton; daughter and son-in-law Christy and Daniel Teel of Pocasset and their children Jesse and his wife Katie, Lexi and Kari; daughter and son-in-law Shelly and CJ Jackson of Bartlesville and their children Atticus and Ransom; brothers Gilbert Unruh, Raymond Unruh and wife Ethelene, Milferd Unruh and wife Mary, Paul Unruh and wife Dorothy, Stanley Unruh and wife Charlene; sisters Luella Koehn and husband Willard, and Wilma Koehn and husband Richard; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and close friends.
