Funeral services for Lillian “Tiny” Johnson, 86, of Chickasha, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in the First Baptist Church with Reverend Morris Blakes officiating.
Early one morning on January 22, 1930, a beautiful baby girl was welcomed into the world by her proud parents, Jasper and Hattie (Nesbitt) Jones. They chose the name, Lillian for her.
Once her parents went on to be with the Lord, Lillian’s upbringing was up to her siblings and when Lillian came of age, she moved to Chickasha from Binger. There she met and married Marcellous Johnson. They were very fruitful and were blessed to be the parents of sixteen children and the grandparents of over 100.
Lillian became the wife and mother that God had intended her to be. She joined the Shepherd Street Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor John B. Holmes. Leaning on Jesus and the Word, she began telling her babies about Jesus and His goodness.
She met no strangers and she could hold a conversation with whomever she met. Lillian had a way of making a person feel important. She had a genuine rapport with young people, always giving them life lessons. She always made sure everyone in need of food could eat and if they needed a place to lay their head, her doors were always open. She would often say she couldn’t turn them away.
Lillian had a great sense of humor that was second to none. There was always laughter in the home. She wore a coat of many colors. She answered to Mama, Tiny, Mrs. Johnson, GrandMama, and Aunt Tiny. She fulfilled all of these roles with ease.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, husband, Marcellous, Sr., son Marcellous Johnson Jr., daughters, Linda Gardner, Anita Jones and Bridgette Johnson, and all her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Debra Collier and husband, Stanley, of Floydada, Texas, Sandra Foster of Oakland, California, Charlotte Nixon of Phoenix, Arizona, Sheryl Robinson of Oklahoma City, Devenua Burgess and Donald Gaston of Phoenix, Arizona, Alana Davis of Norman, Tracy Ligons and husband, Richard, of Chickasha, and Hausana Kettle of Oklahoma City; sons, Kirk Johnson and wife, Janet, of Chickasha, Brent Johnson of Chickasha, Kelvin Johnson and wife, Elana, of Lawton, Andon Johnson of Chickasha, Trent Johnson of Chickasha and Russet Johnson and wife, Julie, of Oklahoma City; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
