Funeral services for Lila M. Powell, 82, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday February 5, 2015 at Bible Baptist Church with Kim Hayes officiating.
Earlier that morning, a Requiem Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with Father Justin Fletcher officiating.
Lila M. Powell was born May 8, 1932 in Plainview, Texas, the daughter of Emmett M. Moore and Lila Earl (Parsons) Moore. She passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 in Oklahoma City.
Lila grew up in Duncan, Oklahoma. On May 27, 1948, she and Henry Allen Powell were married in Henrietta, Texas and to this union their four children were born.
Lila and Henry raised their family travelling many states due to Henry’s oilfield employment. They settled in Chickasha in 1962.
She was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church for many years. Lila was employed at American Optical and later retired from Maremont after being employed there for many years.
Lila was an avid roller-skater and remembered many fun stories of skating with her sisters. She loved to dance; square dancing and jitterbugging were some of her favorites.
She loved spending time with her family and received great joy from the companionship of her dog, Victor.
Lila was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters, Margaret Ball and Betty Cherry, and Henry Powell.
She was deeply loved and will be missed by son, Bob Powell of Chickasha; son, Kenny Powell and his wife, Sherron, of Chickasha; son, Phillip Powell and his wife, Shelly, of Chickasha; daughter, Sandy Palmer and her husband, Don, of Chickasha; granddaughters, Sara Powell, Jillian Powell, and Autumn Rogers; grandsons, Josh Powell, Jarred Powell, Shane Kluver, and Noah Vance; ten great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bessie McClain and her husband, Bob, and Elizabeth Edwards; brother, Frank Moore and his wife, Linda; and many extended family and friends.
Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
