Leroy David Schein

d. May 29, 2024

Leroy David Schein was born August 4, 1945 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Walter Herman Schein and Anna Mary (Hollman) Schein. He passed from this life on May 29, 2024 at the age of 78 in his home in Pocasset, Oklahoma.

Leroy grew up in Pocasset, Oklahoma. His family moved there shortly after he was born to start the family farm, and growing up Leroy enjoyed helping his dad work on the farm. He was the youngest of six children, and loved spending time with his brothers and sisters growing up. He attended and graduated from Pocasset High School in 1963, afterwards attending Cameron University in Lawton as well as USAO in Chickasha. Leroy then went on to work and retire from Western Electric after 30 years.

On September 1, 1967, Leroy married the love of his life, Vickie Lynn Richardson, in El Reno, Oklahoma. They went on to have two sons, Jim and Eric, and in 1980 the family built a home in Pocasset and moved there to be closer to the family farm. Leroy and his sons helped his dad work on the farm, even after his sons moved out and started their own families Leroy continued to work on the farm.

Some of Leroy’s favorite pastimes included playing pool and camping at the lake. He loved to travel the country roads on his Can-Am and was known throughout the community for visiting and sharing his ice chest full of beers. Vickie and Leroy with their trusty dog, Clyde, enjoyed traveling in their camper across the country, and would make annual trips to Flagstaff and meet up with other members of the family. He is remembered for always having smile on his face, and being very easygoing and likeable. Most of all Leroy loved spending time with his sons and his grandchildren who meant the world to him.

Leroy was preceded in death by both parents, his brother and sister-in-law Glen and Laudell Schein, sister and brother-in-law Loretta and Jack Dodson, brother-in-law Joe Culver, sister-in-law Dot Schein, and nephew Gary Schein.

Loved ones left to remember him are his wife Vickie of the home; sons James and his wife Jodi of Edmond, and Eric and his wife Tracy of Pocasset; grandchildren Zack Kraeger and his wife Carlie, Allie Schein and Anna Schein; great-grandson Bennett Kraeger; brothers Gordon Schein and Lawrence Schein and wife Janice; sister Mary Margret Culver; and two honorary children Jacob and Macie Delgado, who have been a blessing to Leroy this past year; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
