Funeral services for Leon Douglas Jensen, 80, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at College Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Bryan Haynes officiating and Dr. Billy Elkins assisting.

Leon Douglas Jensen was born on September 22, 1937 in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the son of Wallace and Emyline Jensen. He passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

He grew up and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1958. In 1961, his reserve unit was called back up during the building of the Berlin Wall. Both times he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

He farmed for two years in Minnesota with his dad and after his discharge from the Army, he and Mary moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma. He worked two and a half years for the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company and then worked thirty years for the Rainbo Baking Company, retiring in 1995.

Leon was united in marriage to Mary Looney on September 27, 1958 in Cyril, Oklahoma. They spent almost 60 years together.

He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church and was an ordained Deacon, taught Junior High and High School boys’ Sunday School classes, and served several years as Sunday School Director. Leon loved his church and all his Christian friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Michelle Jensen; parents, Wallace and Emyline Jensen; in-laws, Willard and Lucille Looney; brothers, Fred, Melvyn, and Jim Jensen; and sister-in-law, La Rue Jensen.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; children, Randy and Sherry Jensen of Lindale, Texas, Gary and Kim Jensen of Houston, Texas, David and Becky Jensen of Rush Springs, and Susan and Kyle Woo of West Lake, Texas; brothers, Anton Jensen, Rollin and Penel Jensen, John and Carole Jensen, and Daniel Jensen; sisters-in-law, Shirley Jensen, Nancy Jensen, Arlene Jensen, and Donna and Wayne Rahija; brother-in-law, Edwin and Janell Looney; ten grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-grandson and seven step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
