Graveside services for Lena Mae Pitchford, 102, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021 in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Kim Hayes officiating.
Lena Mae (Welch) Pitchford was born December 15, 1918 in Paoli “Paeola”, Oklahoma to John “Johnny” Henry Welch and Ada Savanah (Keenan) Welch. She passed away on August 28, 2021 at her home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
On June 27, 1943, she married Jack Leon Pitchford in Konawa, Oklahoma. Lena was a homemaker and spent her days taking care of their boys. They came to Chickasha in the 1960’s.
Lena liked fishing with Jack on occasion. She enjoyed cooking and having people over for dinner. She always made sure the boys “towed the line.” She attended Trinity Baptist Church and loved teaching her Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Pitchford and all of her siblings Clarence Welch, Nita Gardner, Trudy Elkins, Jesse Pyle, Red Welch, Beatrice Charles, Frank Welch, Bernice Scott and Virgil Welch.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law Darrell and Theresa Pitchford of Chickasha and Michael and Dena Pitchford of Chickasha; grandchildren Jesse Pitchford, Bruce and Jennifer Pitchford, Chris Pitchford, and Kathy Taylor; great-grandchildren Hagan, Skyeler, Tristan, Brett, Taylor and Shiloh; and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
