Lee Ann Worrell

d. April 30, 2014

Former longtime Chickasha resident Lee Ann Worrell died April 30, 2014, at Columbine Manor Care Center in Salida, Colorado, after a brief illness.

Born in Chickasha on Oct. 1, 1942, to Frank and Olive Worrell, she grew up there and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1960. After completing her freshman year at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Letters from the University of Oklahoma in 1964 with numerous honors. Later she added a degree in elementary education.

Lee Ann especially enjoyed writing and music. She composed songs, wrote poetry, and loved singing with vocal groups. She was accomplished on both the flute and piano.

From childhood, she was very involved in church activities and her unwavering faith was a constant source of strength. She faced all situations with courage and good humor in spite of ongoing pain and disability from multiple health challenges. She epitomized bravery and perseverance through all these difficulties.

Her parents, Frank and Olive (Denney) Worrell, and her infant daughter, Marie Elizabeth Kennedy, preceded her in death. She is survived by sisters Frances (Bill) Tulley and Carolyn (Bob) Boydston, ex-husband Edward R. Kennedy, nephews Pat (Linda) Tulley and Mike Boydston (Karen Sprole) and their son Erik Boydston, niece Erin Boydston (Lou LaProcido), aunt Dru Denney, numerous cousins, and many cherished friends.

Her life will be celebrated in Chickasha on October 1, her 72nd birthday. Following private interment at Fairlawn Cemetery, a memorial service for family and friends will be held at 1:30 pm in the Epworth United Methodist Church Chapel. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations to the memorial fund at Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha, where Lee Ann was a lifelong member.

Interment and services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
