A funeral service for Larry Bob Short, 69, of Chickasha, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.
Larry Bob Short was born May 10, 1953, in Lawton, Oklahoma, the son of Robert Howard Short and Patty Florence (Barker) Short. He clocked out of this life on Friday, January 13, 2023 right at 5:00, in true Larry fashion, surrounded by his family.
Larry grew up in the Lawton area and graduated High School from Lawton Eisenhower. Larry spent many hours at the Lawton Speed Way and enjoyed watching his favorite Top Fuel Funny Car driver John Force.
In early adulthood, Larry made his home in the Chickasha area where he began his family. He later opened Larry’s Automotive and was the Exalted Ruler among other titles at the Elks Lodge.
Around the year 2000, Larry moved to Kansas. He worked alongside his brother Charlie at Perry’s Tire and Alignment in Ulysses. Larry lived the last several years in Dodge City where he continued to run an alignment shop, before moving back to Chickasha in his final years.
Larry was a member of the Pheasants Forever, loved to go hunting, collect knives, watch and attend as much NHRA as possible and always had to make sure he was working on something.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother Charlie Short and Uncle Speedy Barker
Survivors include daughter Angie Jennings and husband Jason of Seminole, daughter Misty of Oklahoma City, son Keith Roberts of Blanchard, son Jarrod Short and wife Cheyenne of Chickasha, son Luke Short and wife Sarah of Chickasha, son John Pinkerton of Dodge City, son Skyler Short and wife Sarah of Chickasha, son Sean Pinkerton of Dodge City, 10 grandkids Boston, Jack, Bryndon, Cooper Lee, Brinlei, Zachary, Ashleigh, Whittney, Brandon and Zane, sister in law Missie Short, numerous nieces, nephews, extended loved ones and friends.
Viewing will be on Wednesday, January 18 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Interment will be in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Oklahoma, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home, where words of comfort and condolences may be left for the family at www.ferguson-funeralhome.com .
