Funeral services for Larry Mark McCoy, 71, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Carr officiating.
Larry Mark McCoy was born February 21, 1950 in Idabel, Oklahoma to John Robert McCoy and Mertis Marie (Dean) McCoy. He died Wednesday, November 17, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Larry grew up in Idabel and moved to Chickasha at 15 years old, where he met the love of his life Karen Sue Jantz. He graduated Chickasha High School in 1968.
He worked for Stidham Horse Trailers for a year before he was drafted into the United States Army, serving in Vietnam and receiving a Bronze Star.
On February 12, 1971, he and Sue were married in Wichita Falls, Texas and they shared 50 years of life together.
When he finished his enlistment, he worked for Stidham a couple more years and then started working in the oilfield. Larry travelled the world working in the oilfield as a driller.
He liked fishing, hunting and trapping, loved anything outdoors, especially gardening and farming. He could build about anything out of wood or metal and had come from a long line of carpenters, but his passion was welding which he learned from his father-in-law Lincoln Jantz. He loved animals especially his “buddy puppies”.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leon and Don McCoy, nieces Karen Wood and LaDonna Boggess, nephew Buzz Boggess, and brother-in-law Carl Mann.
Survivors include his wife Sue McCoy of the home; daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Clayton Brown of Alex; grandson Haydin Parson of Chickasha; brothers and sisters Tina Mann of Amber, J.R. McCoy and wife Anita of Chickasha, David McCoy and wife Janet of Tom,Louise Bright of Oklahoma City, and Shirley White of Chickasha; special friend that he called a brother Nick Amstutz; and many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Viewing will be at Ferguson Funeral Home on Sunday November 21 st from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
