Funeral Services for Larry Batchelder, 65, of Chickasha, will be held Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.
Larry G. Batchelder was born August 22, 1948 in Graylin, Michigan, the son of Gordon Batchelder and Francis Zettle Batchelder. He died on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Chickasha.
Larry grew up in Michigan and later moved to Florida. While in Florida, he loved to spend time lobster fishing. He moved from Florida to Chickasha in 2005. He married Anita Wynn in Chickasha on November 14, 2006. Larry retired in 1990 from the United States Navy. He spent one tour in Vietnam where he was a boat gunner. He was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran and was extremely proud of his twenty-one years of military service. He was awarded a National Defense Medal, a Special Operations Service Ribbon, an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Award and countless other honors.
Larry was a member of the Chickasha Elks Lodge#2125. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and grandchildren. Larry loved spending summers at Lake Chickasha surrounded by family and friends. He was also an avid Thunder fan, Sooner fan, and he loved to spend nights listen to his step-sons play in the Dollar 98 band.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Anita Batchelder; one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Lizette Batchelder of Georgia; two daughters and son-in-laws, Amanda and Kevin Bailey of Ohio, and Julie Batchelder of Florida; one brother; Aaron Batchelder of Florida; three step-sons Aaron and Robin Warren of Chickasha, Lonnie Warren and Cassie Osborne of Chickasha, and Justin and Jennifer Warren of Verden; one cousin Paul and Mary Ann Batchelder of Chickasha; fourteen grandchildren; numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Friends.
Interment will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fort Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
