Funeral services for LaNell Suzanne Gore, 78, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Rodgers officiating.
LaNell Suzanne Gore, known as Sue, was born August 12, 1936 in Alex, Oklahoma, the daughter of Carl Floyd Birdwell and Edna Earl (Armstrong) Birdwell. She passed away at her home in Chickasha, Oklahoma on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
S ue grew up in Alex and moved to Chickasha, where she graduated from Chickasha High School.
She was a LPN and had worked at Grady Memorial Hospital. She later worked as a charge nurse at Shanoan Springs Nursing Center for many years.
Sue attended and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Her hobbies included reading, traveling, crocheting, sewing, and playing the piano. She collected old dolls, ceramics, and knick-knacks. Sue loved old-time Country Western music and Southern Gospel Music. In recent years, she enjoyed going to Liberty Drug Store to drink coffee and socialize.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Allen Ray Birdwell and Larry Eugene Birdwell; and grandson, Richard Alan James.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd Gore, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Tassy Guenther of Houston, Texas; daughter, Melissa Wallace of Steelville, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Danial Dicus of Steelville, Missouri; grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Randy Lewis, Shana King, Sarah James, Derek and Ashlee Dicus, Elton Guenther, Morgan Guenther, Stacy Wallace, Kaleb Dicus, and Kara Dicus; fourteen great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Plants, flowers, or memorial donations to the Leukemia Cancer Society are welcomed by the family.
Services and interment in Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
