Funeral services for Lance Alan Bennett, 62, of Mustang, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Bible Baptist Church with Kim Hayes officiating.

Lance Alan Bennett was born May 27, 1954 in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the son of Albert Franklin Bennett and Phyllis Maureen (Lance) Bennett. After a long battle with cancer, he died peacefully at his home in Mustang, Oklahoma on Saturday, June 11, 2016.

Lance grew up in Chickasha, and attended Southwest Grade School, Chickasha Junior High and Chickasha High School. He left Chickasha High School and joined the United States Army in 1971 and was stationed at Stewart Air Force Base in upstate New York. He served as a V.I.P. Chauffer for West Pointe Academy. Lance left the Army in 1973, returning to Chickasha, where he worked in automotive service and the trucking industry.

He met Shirley Smith in 1976 and married her, the love of his life, on July 21, 1977 in Chickasha. Together they enjoyed cruising the cars and motorcycles Lance built over his lifetime.

God blessed Lance with a beautiful Christian wife, followed by two awesome daughters, Brooke in 1981and Shana in 1985. Lance always trusted God and God always took care of him and his family.

He was preceded in death by both parents, an infant sister, Rose Bennett, and his mother-in-law, Mattie Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Bennett, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Brooke and Brandon Dunn, of Mustang; daughter, Shana Bennett, of Oklahoma City; sister and brother-in-law, Alicia and Kenny Coleman, of Midwest City; sister, Kathy Maggard, of Yukon; brother, Kendall Bennett, of Weatherford, Texas; sister, Cheryl Martin, of San Antonio, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Kim Hayes, of Chickasha; step-brother, Donnie Alexander; grandchildren, Paris Dunn, Paige Dunn and Zack Dunn; great-grandchild, Collin Hoffman-Dunn; and other extended family and friends.

Viewing times are Tuesday, June 14 th and Wednesday, June 15 th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days.

Services and interment in Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
