Funeral services for Kenneth Lee Askins, 77, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Kent Hibbard officiating.
Kenneth Lee Askins was born on September 18, 1940 in Pocasset, Oklahoma, the son of Charles Edward Askins and Ethel Jewel (Hill) Askins. He died Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Kenneth grew up north of Dutton with a Pocasset address, attended La Crosse school for 8 years, then went to Verden graduating in 1959.
He joined the United States Air Force right out of high school, serving from 1959 to 1963.
Kenneth married Janice Williams on October 3, 1964 in Grady County and to this union his daughters, Michelle and Krista were born.
After his military service, he went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company 34 years, from 1963 until his retirement in 1997.
Kenneth married Kathleen Elaine Dockins on June 20, 1989 in Lake Tahoe, California.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. For over 10 years, Kenneth and Kathleen have been members of Southern Hills Baptist Church. He was a deacon and enjoyed teaching his Sunday School class. He liked reading his Bible, fishing, watching westerns, and working on their rental properties.
Kenneth was preceded in death by both parents, brothers and sisters, Fern Askins, Carl Askins, Elmer Askins, Mildred Bunn, Merl Dean Askins, and Charles Ray Askins.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Askins, of the home; daughters and sons-in-laws, Michelle Dewey of Chickasha, Krista Gray of Verden, Misty and Chris Brown of Blanchard, and Sonia and Dallas Hayes of Amber; sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Rick Lasseter of Chickasha, Faye George of Chickasha, and Bernice Line of Chickasha; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery located in Anadarko, Oklahoma under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
