Katherine Kay Rhodes

A funeral service for Katherine (Kathy) Kay Rhodes, 71, formerly of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Simpson officiating.

Katherine Kay (Whitener) Rhodes was born September 5, 1953, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the daughter of Albert Whitener and Cora Drewry Whitener. She passed suddenly from this life on Sunday, April 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy grew up in Alex and graduated from Alex High School in 1971. She married the love of her life, Jerry Rhodes on March 17, 1972, in Chickasha. Kathy was a homemaker that raised her boys and took them everywhere when they were young. She was active in their sports and school activities and loved cheering them on! Kathy also loved spending time outdoors and on the water. Kathy and Jerry would often spend time at Lake Murray in the summers. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren. She followed her grandchildren to their sporting events and also followed the Thunder Basketball team! Kathy was a strong-willed person, and she also stood for what she believed in.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry Rhodes, and brother, Steve Whitener.

Loved ones left to remember Kathy are her son, Jerad Rhodes and wife Tiffany of Newcastle; and son Jeffrey Rhodes of Chickasha; grandchildren Ethan and Tinley Rhodes of Newcastle; sister-in-law Janice Essex of Chickasha, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as extended family and many dear friends.

A visitation for Kathy will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home, with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
