Karen Kay Charlson, age 76, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s on Sunday, February 18, 2018.
Kay was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Freda May (Hoover) Sheridan and Cecil Lonzo Sheridan, February 2, 1942. She graduated Chickasha High School and married Johnnie Ray Charlson in 1960. They made their home in local towns including Chickasha, Cyril, and Tuttle, and eventually returned to Chickasha in 1975 where Johnnie worked for PSO. After raising their sons, Shane and Scott, Kay became a real estate agent and then a broker for her own real estate firm in Chickasha.
Kay loved family get-togethers, decorating for holidays, playing with her grandchildren, being out in the sun, watching old movies, and cooking great family meals.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie; her sons, Shane and his wife, Sandy Charlson, and Scott and his wife, Chellie Charlson. Grandchildren include Mario Villar, Joseph Charlson, Tanner Charlson, Garrett and Trent Skeen. Great-grandchildren include Brynli, Maelee, and Hayden.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Shon Jay Charlson.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
