Memorial services for Joyce J. (Lawson) Terry, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Hatfield officiating.
Joyce J. (Lawson) Terry was born a twin baby on February 2, 1925 in Alex, Oklahoma. She died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Grace Living Center in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Joyce was the youngest of ten children born by her mother, Mary Lawson, who lived in Alex, Oklahoma. Joyce was married to Tillman ‘Tip’ Terry for close to 50 years. They were both raised in the Alex, Oklahoma community and married while Tip served in the U. S. Air Force. In 1961, they moved to Anaheim, California, where Tip successfully worked in the space industry until he retired in about 1976. Joyce and Tip then moved back to Chickasha and co-owned a small carpentry business with Tip’s parents, Melvin and Clara Terry in Chickasha, Oklahoma, for about 15 years. Tip Terry died at the age of 70 years in August 1993 at Grady Memorial Hospital due to complications from surgery.
Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter, Lana Jo Allen.
She is survived by her two children, David Alan Terry and Mary Kathryn Guillet. She has two grandchildren, Jacque Allen, who lives in California, and Lissa Ann Guillet, who lives in Seattle, Washington.
A small memorial is set up at the Ferguson Funeral Home for those who might want to remember and celebrate Joyce’s life.
