Graveside funeral services will be held for Josephine Kennell, 87, of Chickasha at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011, in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
Josephine Kennell was born on January 5, 1924, in Slay, Texas, to William and Rachel (Henson) Henager. She died on Monday, November 07, 2011, in Oklahoma City.
She grew up in eastern Oklahoma, but the family moved back to Texas when she was sixteen.
Josephine was married for over fifty years to the love of her life, Cecil J. Kennell. They moved to the Chickasha area in 1946. Together they operated Cecil & Jo’s Bait House out by Lake Birtschi for many years.
Josephine was a hard-working woman whose idea of relaxing was spending hours waiting for the fish to bite. She always took care of herself and those around her and she will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by: both parents, her husband Cecil J. Kennell, six sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin & Yvonne Thomas, Melvin & Billie Thomas and Dwayne & Marlene Thomas; one step-daughter, Rosie Blevins; two sisters, Betty Steele and Georgia May England; fifteen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
