Jonie Jo Nygaard was born October 24, 1978 in Litchfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Kenneth and Donna (Bollman) Nygaard. She passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at her home in Lindsay, Oklahoma.

Jonie moved from Minnesota to Colorado with her family when she was 10 years old. She attended and graduated from high school in Fort Collins, Colorado and in 2001 moved to Oklahoma with her family.

Ever since Jonie was a baby she has attended church, the past eight years she has been a member of Banner Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She was a very strong believer in God and she never lost her faith. From fourteen years of age, she battled brain tumors and underwent over 30 surgeries, yet she stayed strong in the Lord. She loved to say, “Fear not, for God is with you!”

Her nickname since she was two years old was “Jonie Pie that Lives Down by the River”. All the time growing up she was a good girl; she never asked for anything or sassed back. She was happy with whatever was given to her, and she loved her animals. When she was young she had rabbits, goats, and a pot-bellied pig. After moving to Oklahoma, she had cats and a dog.

Jonie’s favorite TV shows were Little House on the Prairie and I Love Lucy. She loved reading her Bible, watching Christian shows and ministries, and going to church.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ida Bollman; grandfather, Vernon Bollman; grandmother, Lucille Nygaard; grandfather, Oden Nygaard; aunts,  Nancy Bollman, Joyce Gustafson, and Jane Nygaard; and uncle, Wally Nygaard.

She is loved and dearly missed by her father and mother, Kenneth and Donna Nygaard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Nancy Everson, Bryant and Lorraine Nygaard, Scott and Laura Nygaard, and Kenny Nygaard, Jr.; sisters, Julie Schroth and Becky; nieces and nephews, Josh Everson, Bryant Joe Nygaard, Dakota Nygaard, Nick LeBlanc, Kayle Everson, Chet Everson, Bethany Tucker, Joleena Nygaard, Jenna Nygaard, and Lilly Schroth; great-nephew, Jayden Tucker; great-niece, Jalaigh Nygaard; as well as extended family and friends.

“I will race you to Heaven” was a saying spoken with love between Jonie, Kenny Jr., and Dad.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
