Funeral services for John C. Harris, 80, of Cement, will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Cement with Tommy Buchanan officiating.

John C. Harris was born August 6, 1933 in Cement, Oklahoma, the son of Robert Lindsey Harris and Ella Hargus Harris. He died Friday, March 21, 2014 in Lawton, Oklahoma.

John was born and raised in Cement; he attended the Cement Public Schools and later started working at a young age in the Oil Industry. He married Geneva Brown on April 6, 1954 in Cement.  John loved to spend his time on the road; he and Geneva had traveled many miles together while crossing the United States.  He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hosting big family gatherings,  volunteering his time to drive the van on Senior citizens trips, playing Domino’s and buying and selling cars. Thurman Bolin and John were joint owner and operator of Bolin and Harris Oil Company for several years. John never met a person that he didn’t like and he was always willing to help people out.  He will be missed by his many family and friends.

John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cement.

He was preceded in death by both parents; sisters Leota Stokes, Altaloma Montgomery, and Patricia Harris; brothers, Delmar Harris and Lynn Harris; and one great grandchild, Christopher Kilpatrick.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Harris of the home; one son and daughter-in-law Jeffery and Tammy Harris of Cement; two daughters and son-in-laws, Rhonda and Gerry Bates of Cyril, and Donna and Darrel Glass of Cement; three sisters and brother-in-law; Betty Biggs of Chickasha, Anita and Keith Sluss of Elyria, Ohio, Joan Franks of Ninnekah, and Jeanne Love of Chickasha; grandchildren; Jennifer Kilpatrick, Kayla Snyder, Sara Bates, Jason Glass, Travis Glass, Jonathon Harris, and Lindsey Harris, eight great grandchildren, one great -great grandchild, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and many friends and family.

Interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
