A memorial service for Joey O. Tannehill, 80, of Chickasha will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Curtis Townley officiating.
Joy Olanthous Tannehill, who went by Joey, was born July 31, 1943 in Payne, Oklahoma to Olanthous Tannehill and Clarisa A. (Smith) Tannehill. He passed from this life on Friday, March 15, 2024, just a few days after his wife, Wanda.
Joey attended See Chapel, south of Bradley, for his elementary schooling, then went to Friend School.
As a young man, he worked in the oilfield for a time. For 32 years, he worked for Jackson Horse Trailers. He enjoyed working at Walmart and he worked for Dan Sparks, working property maintenance and really liked it.
On December 2, 1977, he married Wanda Jean Pate and they shared 46 years of marriage. They enjoyed traveling to see the sights and to visit children and grandchildren.
He liked watching OKC Thunder basketball and OU football. He liked fishing and caring for strays.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife Wanda, and his brothers Eugene “Gene,” Virgil “Nig,” Aaron, Donald “Don,” and Louis “Tom.”
Loved ones left to remember him are his sister Helen Badertscher; sister-in-law Joy Tannehill; numerous nieces and nephews; step-son Doug Lee and wife Deborah; step-daughter Sherri Oxner; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other extended family and friends.
Cremation arrangements and burial of cremains in Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
