A funeral service for Jimmy Raymond Browning, 82, of Amber, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bryan Haynes officiating.

Jimmy Raymond Browning was born September 9, 1941 at Amber, Oklahoma to O.R. Browning and Ola Mae (Davis) Browning. He passed from this life on Sunday, March 10, 2024 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Jim grew up on the family farm in Amber, graduating at Amber High School. He was then drafted into the United States Army, serving four years.

When he got out of the military, he started working for Amarillo Hardware working in sales, all over the Oklahoma district for more than 30 years. He was passionate about continuing the family farm and raised cattle, only retiring in 2017 after his health declined. He lived on the farm he grew up on and cherished those family memories. He was very close to his mother and father all throughout his life and remembered them fondly. He was a strong, powerful man that was hardworking and provided for his children. Jim was very talented and could do anything.

He was preceded in death by both parents.

Loved ones left to remember him are his wife Peggy Browning of Chickasha; daughter and son-in-law Kim and John Schubert of Forney, Texas; daughter Susan Browning of Mustang; grandchildren and their spouses Thomas and Brittany Jones of Lawton, Tyler and Cheyenne Schubert of Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, Cassidy Schubert of Stillwater; great-grandchildren Waylon Nissen, Mackenzie Schubert, Luka Schubert, Braxton Jones and Harper Jones; siblings and their spouses Jerry and Loraine Browning of Wichita, Kansas, Barbara Hale-Brand and Pete Brand of Grove and Larry Browning and Victoria Hoch of Austin, Texas; and other extended family and friends.

Viewing will be on Wednesday, March 13 th at Ferguson Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in Amber Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
