Funeral services for Jim Sullivan, Sr., 82, of Alex will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Westside Church of Christ in Alex, Oklahoma with Minister Brian Johnson officiating.

Jim Sullivan, Sr. was born January 12, 1936 in Grapeland, Texas, the son of Etheridge Sullivan and Alma Pearl (Skidmore) Sullivan. He passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jim grew up in Quinlan, Texas and attended school at Boles Home. He then attended Abilene Christian College for one year.

He joined the United States Army in January of 1956 and served his country for over twenty years, retiring in March of 1976.

On July 5, 1955, Jim married Mildred Naomi Elrod in White Settlement, Texas and they were married for over 63 years.

He was a fine artist, specializing in portraits and still lifes. He loved gardening and was a gentleman farmer. Jim was a member of Westside Church of Christ in Alex for over 30 years and was extremely active in his church congregation. His faith in God was great and he loved the Lord and his family.

Jim was preceded in death by both parents; sisters, Doris Howard and Carene Sullivan; and grandson, James Neal May, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of the home; son, Jim Sullivan, Jr. and his wife Martha of Tulsa; daughter, Katrina Brown and her husband Kevin of Talladega, Alabama; sister, June Davis of Allen, Texas; grandsons, Stuart Sullivan, Eric Sullivan, and Jeremiah May; seven great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

Interment in Alex Cemetery will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
