Jerry Dan Box

Funeral services for Jerry Dan Box will take place at Ferguson Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 22nd at ten o’clock a.m. with Rev. Michael Oberlender officiating.
Jerry Dan Box passed away on August 18, 2018 at his home in Chickasha. He was 82 years old at the time of his death. He was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on August 25, 1935, the son of Henry and Willie (Wilkinson) Box.
Jerry moved with his family to Chickasha where he graduated from high school in 1953. He played basketball at Chickasha High School where he was a member of the 1953 State Championship Team and was named an All-Stater. In 2008, he was named to the Chickasha High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
After graduation from high school Jerry attended Eastern New Mexico University on a basketball scholarship. On January 3, 1956, Jerry married the love of his life, Katherine Lois Horne, in Purcell, Oklahoma. Jerry and Katherine had three daughters, Ann Renee Box McCalla, Susan Lynn Box Crumbo and Sara Jane Box.
Jerry and Katherine moved to Stillwater where he attended Oklahoma State University graduating in 1961 with a degree in accounting. After graduation he began his career in accounting in Tulsa, Oklahoma with the Big Eight accounting firm of Arthur Anderson. His business career took him to Richardson and Houston, Texas, Chickasha and Watertown, South Dakota. Upon retiring in 1996, Jerry, Katherine and Sara moved back to Oklahoma initially living in Norman before returning to their hometown of Chickasha in 2006.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He devotedly cared for Katherine until her death and for his daughter Sara his whole life.
Jerry was a dedicated board member of Special Young Adults of Chickasha where he served as President for many years. He enjoyed working with Dale Osborn and the staff while seeing the organization grow and serve this very special group.
Jerry loved attending and watching all types of sporting events. He and Katherine were avid golfers for many years playing in numerous tournaments in South Dakota and Oklahoma.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine, his parents, his brother Donald and sisters, Joyce, Freddie and JoAnn; his mother-in-law, Ann Horne Crist; his brother-in-law, Bud Horne; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pat and James Rogers.
He is survived by his daughters Ann Renee McCalla and her husband, Dick; Susan Lynn Crumbo and her husband, Ron and Sara Jane Box. His grandchildren, Matthew McCalla and wife Jesseca and great-grandchild, Carter; Nathan McCalla and wife Natalie and great-grandchildren, Matilda and Fieldon; and Alison (McCalla) Patel and husband, Sandip and great-grandchild, Vivienne; his sister, Dortha Eubank and his sister in law, Mona Horne.
Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
