A graveside service for Jean Ann Hughes Brittain, 82, of Shawnee, formerly of Chickasha, will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
Jean Ann Slate was born November 30, 1940 in Dallas, Texas to Ernest Winton Slate and Flora Lee (Ackridge) Slate. She passed from this life Sunday, October 22, 2023 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Jean grew up in Chickasha. She worked for Hibdon Tire Center and also at Nowata Gardens, painting and renovating the apartments. She loved bowling and was a part of three different bowling leagues on Fridays. She enjoyed reading her Bible and gossip magazines and when she was younger, she enjoyed square dancing.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Randolph “Bud” Brittain, her sister Milinda Slate and her brother Glen D. Slate.
Loved ones left to remember her are her daughter, Angela J. Hughes of Shawnee; daughter-in-law Brandy M. Smith of Shawnee; sons Mark E. Hibdon of Newcastle and Leslie D. Hibdon of Edmond; six grandchildren and other extended family and friends.
A viewing will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. when friends will be received to visit with family.
Interment in Fairlawn Cemetery will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
