Memorial services will be held for Janice ‘Jan’ White, 82, of Chickasha at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2012, in the Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Janice E. White was born on February 21, 1930, in New York City, New York, the oldest of three daughters of Ralph and Jeannette (Reilly) Muir. She died on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, in Chickasha.
Jan was raised in Fairfax, Virginia and graduated from high school there. After high school, in 1949, Jan enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served her country until 1952, attaining the rank of Corporal. She later married Don Maddern in Bisbee, Arizona, and to that union their two daughters were born. They were married seven years. She married Thomas White in 1971 and was with him until his death in 1989.
Jan lived in many places throughout her life and was employed as a secretary for the Phoenix Police Department in Phoenix, Arizona, before her retirement. She moved to the Chickasha area in 1997 where she became an active member of the Christ our Savior Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the American Legion. Her two favorite pastimes were reading and playing bridge and she loved her family and friends very much.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her husband, Thomas White.
Survivors include: two daughters, Leigh Vincent of Norman and Lynn Grandy of Chandler, AZ; one son, Steven White of Peoria, AZ; two sisters, Anne Johnson of Glendale, AZ and Paddy Kuehnlenz of Silver City, NM; four grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
