Memorial Services will be held for Janette Marie Hansink, 67, of Chickasha, at 11:00am on Tuesday, January 5 th , 2016, in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with Father Justin Fletcher officiating.
Janette was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, on February 13, 1948. She was the daughter of Kenneth Charles and Clara Howard Holder. She passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 30, 2015.
Janette grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, attending Western Heights High School. As a young woman she enjoyed the exciting lifestyle of “old Vegas” which included friendship with the “Rat Pack” and other celebrities. When she returned to Oklahoma, she attended USAO in Chickasha and majored in Home Economics.
She was very proud of her Native American heritage. She was a direct descendant of Chief Loco of the Warm Springs Chiricahua Fort Sill Apache Tribe. One of her passions was keeping her Native American culture alive.
Janette was a skilled seamstress and loved to do crafts, beading, and making rosaries. With all of her many talents, her proudest accomplishment was being “MeMe” to her many grandchildren, and she adored them all.
She was preceded in death by both parents.
Survivors include: son, Keith VanCamp of Chickasha; daughter, Hope Stewart & husband Darrell of Chickasha; son, Mark Hansink & wife Alicia of Coweta; daughter, Faith Hansink of Moore; one sister, Sharon Skolnick of Chicago, Illinois; several great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
