A funeral service for James Lee Mayhugh, his wife Patty and their daughter Shayla, all of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2024 at Bible Baptist Church with J.C. Reed officiating and Kim Hayes assisting.
James Lee Mayhugh was born January 26, 1969 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Leroy Mayhugh and Betty Jean (Pool) Ford. He passed from this life on Friday, May 10, 2024 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
James grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1987. He then went to the Canadian Valley Vo-Tech for autobody repair.
On July 29, 1988, he married Patty Jane Burnett in Verden, Oklahoma. They dated since high school and were each other’s everything and shared over 35 years together.
James first worked as a car salesman at Lacefield Chevrolet and as a sales manager at Ralph and Sons Oldsmobile. He then worked as a body man at R & M Body Shop for more than 20 years. He was very skilled at his art, one of the best in autobody repair. He was a carman and really enjoyed working on cars. He loved his ’55 Chevys!
James was a good, hardworking man. He was a sweetheart and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He didn’t talk a lot, but when he spoke you listened, because he had something to say. In all his dealings, he was a fair man and never made a bad deal.
James, Patty and Shayla died on the same day and they will be memorialized together in the same service. He was preceded in death by his brother Terry Lynn Mayhugh; grandparents Betty and Sonny Pool, Mildred and Wendell Mayhugh, and Mae and Charlie Neff; stepfather Ron Ford; uncles Jamie Pool, Ricky Lynn Pool, and Monte Shane Pool.
Loved ones left to remember James are his mother Betty Jean Ford of Chickasha; father and stepmom Leroy and Pam Mayhugh of Chickasha; son Jacob Mayhugh of Chickasha; sisters Stephanie Sloan and husband Brandon of Amber and Missie Melton and husband Shayne of Chickasha; half-brother Troy Hoover of Missouri; aunts Charlotte McConnell and husband Glen, Mavis Smith, and Vivian Dillard; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Todd and Robin Burnett of Newcastle and Joey and Angie Burnett of Burleson, Texas; nieces and nephews Stormy and Hunter Diedrich, Brandon and Jessica Burnett and their daughter Evie, Adam Burnett, Savannah Burnett, Stanley Mayhugh, Rashanda Mayhugh, Mallorie and Patrick Reiss, Ayden Sloan, Wyatt Melton, Michael Dillard, and Lisa and Ronni Smith; many cousins and other extended family and friends.
There will be no viewing for James. Interment will be held in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
