Funeral services for James “Jamie” Melvin Pool, 63, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Full Gospel Church with Sister Alice Wendling officiating.
James “Jamie” Melvin Pool was born on March 23, 1952 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Melvin Samuel Pool and Betty Jo (Slater) Pool. He died on Tuesday, March 7, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Jamie grew up in Chickasha and attended Chickasha Public Schools.
He joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged after two years of service. After being discharged from the Army, he worked for a water tank manufacturing company and traveled over several states. Later he held various jobs while working in the oilfield, retiring after 30 years.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and loved to go dancing. Jamie also liked working on cars. He was a happy man with a great sense of humor.
Jamie was preceded in death by both parents, Sonny and Betty Pool; son, Jeffery Don Manning; brother, Ricky Lynn Pool; nephew, Terry Lynn Mayhugh; brother-in-law, Ron Ford; and sister-in-law, Emily Pool.
Survivors include his daughter, Jamie Michelle Kirkland and husband, Troy, of Lindsay; daughter, Jennifer Marie Burns of Bethany; son, James Wesley Burns of Bethany; sister, Betty Jean Ford of Chickasha; sister, Charlotte McConnell and husband, Glen, of Chickasha; brother, Monty Shane Pool of Chickasha; special friend, Irma David; grandchildren, Ashton Manning, Todd Kirkland, Cameron Burns and Brennen Burns; great-grandchildren, Tyanne Martinez and Jessie Mainka; nephews, James Mayhugh, Rosco McConnell, Shaune McConnell, Little Monty Pool, Little Ricky Pool, Chad Doke and Colton Tedder; nieces, Shannon Law and Lisa West; and other extended family and friends.
Services and interment in Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
