A private memorial will be held by the family for James Clayton, Jr., 72, of Chickasha.
James Clayton, Jr. was born December 30, 1951 to Willa Mae and James Clayton in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He passed from this life Sunday, May 12, 2024 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
James’ early years were spent in Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas.
Jim made his living working construction, but his true passion was always playing and recording music. He was in several bands over the years and played all music from heavy metal to bluegrass. Dad was gifted with musical instruments and mastered the guitar, drums, banjo, mandolin, bass and piano. He assisted many artists in finding their identities and getting their music in shareable formats.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Clayton, Sr., Willa Mae and Wayne Mitchell, wife Dee Clayton; brothers Terry Mitchell and Randal Mitchell; sister Stacey Higgins; sister-in-law Sharon Mitchell; daughter Tonya May Trotter; daughter-in-law Mary Clayton; son Joseph Beck; and nephew Nicholas Mitchell.
He is survived by special companion Kim McFarland; brothers Allan Mitchell and wife Kathy, and Scott Mitchell; children Wade Clayton-Gonzales (Bob), Jonathan Clayton, Shelley Flores (Sammie); trusted sidekick Bo, the chihuahua; numerous grandkids and great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home .
