Funeral services for James Charles Johnson, 75, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with James Dorn officiating.
James Charles Johnson was born July 14, 1944 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of James Lee Johnson and Annie (Burton) Johnson. He died Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
James grew up in Chickasha, graduating from Chickasha High School. As a young man, he began his own cement and construction company and worked hard all of his life. He worked in this community and all over Oklahoma and Texas.
In the early 1960’s, he married Ola B. Perry and to this union they had three children Baby James, Marlena and Erica.
James attended local churches with his most recent attendance at Mount Olive Baptist Church. He loved fishing and hunting coon and rabbit, and he was good at woodworking. He cherished and spoiled his little dog, Kasey.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, a baby son, James Charles Johnson, Jr., and eight siblings.
Survivors include his daughters Erica Johnson of Chickasha, Marlena Johnson of Oklahoma City and Wanda Demeke; granddaughters Shombray Rogers, Shabria Irby, Nikahywot Demeke and Lydia Demeke; great-grandchildren Zalaya Johnson and David Rogers; sister LaRhonda Johnson; dog Kasey; many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
