A funeral service for Jacquelyn Hargus, 76, of Cement, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at NewSong Church, 1101 S. 16th Street in Chickasha.
Jacquelyn (Cooper) Hargus was born March 19, 1949, in Hinton, Oklahoma to William “Doc” Cooper and Orpha “Gertrude” (White) Cooper. She passed from this life on April 17, 2025, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Jackie grew up and attended schools in Verden, Pioneer, Cyril and Cement.
She worked at various jobs while raising her children then attended Caddo-Kiowa Vo-tech and earned her LPN license. She first worked in home health, then worked at Cyril Nursing Home. For 15 years she worked at Brookdale Senior Living in Chickasha, retiring around 2015. Since retiring she has worked in private care. She always had a deep caring and compassion for her patients.
On December 22, 1989, she married John Hargus, and they shared over 35 years together.
Jackie loved plants and flowers. She grew them everywhere, inside and out with great attention and care. She loved her dog fur baby, Pete, and she had a goldfish that she had nurtured for at least 13 years that she enjoyed.
She was the best role model for her children and grandchildren. She was selfless and loved everyone. The family remembers her frequent counsel of “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” She was a very positive person.
Jackie was all about her family. She really enjoyed family get-togethers and holidays, where the whole crew would be packed into their little home. She was the best “Nana Jack” and loved watching her grands and great-grands play sports, sometimes making it to three games in a day. She had a loud, recognizable whistle and if you heard it, you better pay attention, straighten up or come in to eat. She will be missed deeply.
She was preceded in death by parents Doc and Gertrude Cooper; granddaughter Lyndsey Birch; sisters Ann Butler, Sharron Weight, Jean Cooper, and Bonnie Clift; brother Bobby Cooper; and niece Tina Petty.
