Ida Lorene Hill

d. February 14, 2016

Funeral services for Ida Lorene Hill, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Chickasha with Arbuary Ritter officiating and Jerry Couch assisting.

Ida Lorene (Richardson) Hill was born in Marlow, Oklahoma on March 21, 1926, the daughter of Virgil Lawrence Richardson and Bertha Eugenia (Autry) Richardson. She died on Sunday, February 14, 2016 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

She grew up west of Marlow in the Rock Springs/Denton community and graduated from Marlow High School in 1943. Ida married Edward Pierce Hill, Jr. on April 20, 1943 in Marlow. Their marriage of 68 years was blessed with three daughters, Karen, Patsy and Nancy.

Ida attended and was a member of the Denton Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school and played the organ and piano for over 50 years.

She was a teacher’s aide at the elementary school in Sterling and enjoyed listening to the children read to her.

While her children were in school she was their biggest supporter, attending basketball games and 4-H activities. She traveled across the United States with Edward during his tenure on the REC board of directors and they would often take their grandchildren with them.

Ida was a lady who loved her family unconditionally. She especially delighted in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She “loved, loved” them.

Ida was also a member of an Extension Homemaker’s club. For more than ten years, she and Edward wintered at their home in South Texas and spent their summers in Colorado.

She was preceded in death by both parents, husband, sister, Clorene Richardson; two brothers, Lynn Richardson and Gene Richardson; and daughter, Patsy Hill Dickens.

Survivors are her daughters, Karen Hill Sherry of Edmond and Nancy Warden and her husband, Richard, of Chickasha; grandchildren, Matt Sherry and wife, Landa, of Littleton, Colorado, Jeanna Smith and husband, Todd, of Weatherford, Lori Dickens Campbell and husband, Greg, of North Carolina, and Kristen Dickens of Statesboro, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Xavier and Amelia Sherry, Cade Smith, Kayleigh and Keagan Peak, and Tanner and Trinity Campbell; nephews and nieces, Jim Richardson, Mark Richardson, Brent Richardson, DeeAnn Thompson, and Sally Sparks; two sisters-in-law, Bertalene Richardson and Ruby Richardson; special cousin, Betty Enoch; special friend of the family, Terry Varley; and many other extended family and friends.

Services and interment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens located in Duncan, Oklahoma are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
