Funeral services for Howard Vernon Brinkley, 95, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Grand Assembly of God Church with Gary Rogers officiating and Larry Hatfield assisting.
Howard Vernon Brinkley was born September 20, 1920 in Idabel, Oklahoma, the son of Harvey Levi Brinkley and Minnie Lee (Phillips) Brinkley. He passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Howard grew up and attended schools in the Meridian/Pocasset area, graduating in 1939. For a while, he worked on the farm with his dad, then joined the United States Army and served until September 1941. After his military service, he moved to California, where he met and married Wilda Jean Faurot on June 25, 1948 in Oakland, California. They were married for 58 years until her death in 2006.
Howard worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in California from 1961 to 1975, when he and his family returned to Oklahoma. He attended and was a longtime member of Grand Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Wilda Jean Brinkley; sisters, Dema Black and Geraldine Angus; brother, Harvey Brinkley; and twin granddaughters, Theresa Ann and Renee Suzette Brinkley.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Denise Brinkley of Arizona; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Debbie Brinkley of Lindsay; daughter, Karen Blevins of Yukon; son, Donald Brinkley of Konawa; sister, Lorene Bartlett of Chickasha; nine grandchildren, Krissy Brinkley, Jeremy Brinkley, Heidi Ticer, Chad Cobb, Shawn Cobb, Laura Brinkley, Isaiah Brinkley, John Brinkley, and Matthew Brinkley; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Services and interment in Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
