Funeral services for Howard Dwain Whitener, 73, of Ninnekah, will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Craddock officiating.
Howard Dwain Whitener was born December 21, 1938, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, the son of Gilbert Whitener and Velma McClain Whitener. He died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in Oklahoma City.
Dwain grew up in Ninnekah and graduated from Ninnekah High School. He married Carolyn Hamilton on June 13, 1959, in Ninnekah and to this union his two children were born.
Dwain developed a chain of convenient stores in Stillwater called the “Honk n Holler.” He was the President of Colorvision LLC and a commercial land developer. He also was a rancher and an avid outdoorsman.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Survivors include: one son, Mark Whitener of Edmond, OK; one daughter, Rynn Whitener of Eufaula, OK; mother of his children, Carolyn Whitener, of Rockport, TX; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne & Zoe Whitener of Oklahoma City, and Larry & Vickie Whitener of Rush Springs, OK; one granddaughter, Katie Whitener of Edmond; one grandson, Chance Whitener of Edmond; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
