A private interment for Howard Bruce Oaks, 73, of Chickasha, will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Howard Bruce Oaks was born December 30, 1948 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Howard Lacy Oaks and Virginia Rose (Redmon) Oaks. He died Saturday September 3, 2022 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Howard grew up and attended school in Chickasha graduating in 1967. He played football, which he enjoyed and although he was a small guy, he was very fast. Immediately following high school, he joined the United States Army and serving a total of three years with two years of service as a medic in Vietnam and was awarded a Bronze Star medal.
He worked all of his life in the medical field, including as an ambulance driver and paramedic. He was a faithful parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He was a knowledgeable person, very intelligent. Howard was onery and loved jokes and having a good time, but after Vietnam he struggled with moments of difficulty.
Howard had a good heart and cared about others. He loved the staff at Shanoan Springs Residence Nursing Center, where he had lived for the past three years, and he always cared after the other residents.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be remembered with love by his friends Cindy Brand and Patty Lopez and the staff at Shanoan Springs.
Interment and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
