Funeral services for Hershel Eugene Franks, 83, of Cement, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Justin Harris officiating.
Hershel Eugene Franks was born on June 4, 1939 in Cement, Oklahoma, the son of James Lum Franks and Elizabeth (Virgin) Franks. He passed from this life in Yukon, Oklahoma on Saturday, December 24, 2022.
Hershel grew up in the Chickasha and Cement area. He attended Chickasha Public Schools. He married Wilma Leon “Mooney” Franks on September 8, 1970 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Hershel had been employed with Goodyear where managed multiple stores over the years. He also had owned and operated a hot shot service then he finished his career in the oil and gas business. Hershel enjoyed riding horses, pitching horseshoes, coyote and coon hunting and spending time with all his family especially the grandkids and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife Wilma in 2013 and his daughter Cindy Philpott.
He is survived by his daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Turner, Darla and Donnie Brandt, Debra Hood; son, Jerry Smith; grandchildren Robin Hood, Kathy Butler Ausborn and spouse Paul, Jamie Butler and spouse Shaun Harris, Brandy Stacey and husband Cody, Amy Adair, Kyle Fisher, Jonathan Butler, Jeffery Butler and wife LaRay, Kayle Hood and Jeremy Smith; and great grandchildren Alexis, Rhiannon, Makayla, Kylie, Rocky, Alyssa, Samantha, Brayden, Triston, Jared, Erin, Jagger, Mason, Wyatt, Harlee, Justin, and Keegon.
Interment will be in the Laverty Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home of Chickasha, Oklahoma, where words of comfort and condolences for the family may be expressed online at www.ferguson-funeralhome.com .
