George Ronald Davis

d. August 8, 2019

Funeral services for George Ronald Davis, 83, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019 in the Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Stephen Volante officiating.

George Ronald Davis was born September 28, 1935 in Meridian, Oklahoma to George A. Davis and Lillian (Stewart) Davis. Heaven welcomed George into his Eternal Home on Thursday, August 8, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

George grew up in Meridian, near where Pocasset is located today. He was the salutatorian of the last graduating class of Meridian High School. For many years as a growing boy he helped his father farm their land north of Chickasha past the airport.

He met Helen Louise Tatum in 1952 and they wed on May 7, 1955. George was enlisted in the United States Air Force and they moved to Sacramento, California, where during this time, their first child, George Richard Davis, was born. They then spent some time in service in Alaska.

The Air Force transferred George and family to Tampa, Florida, where they attended church, made life-long friends and served the Lord faithfully in both areas. After George was honorably discharged from the service the young family moved to Texas where they attended college and their daughter, Cynthia (Cyndi) Sue Davis, was born. In 1963, upon graduation from college, the Davises moved home to Chickasha, Oklahoma.

George worked for ten years in the employment office for the State of Oklahoma. He then began working in the oilfield as a driller and tool pusher for various companies, the most recent being ONEOK.

He belonged to the Bible Baptist Church since he was a young man and was a very active and dedicated member of the church, serving as an usher, Bible Class teacher and Missions Treasurer. He was an avid OU fan and held season tickets for many years. He enjoyed reading, especially western books and he loved his coffee.
George was a devoted and loving husband to Helen and was always there for his family. He was a wonderful father and was very involved with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed watching them play sports.

He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Helen Louise Davis in 2013; son, George “Rick” Davis; grandsons, Ryan Hall and George Andrew Davis; and sisters, June Sitterding and Gwenlyn Shadoan.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Cyndi and Barry Hall of Cement; granddaughter, Ashley Heddy and husband Justin of Lacey, Washington; grandson Zach Hall and wife Heather of Tuttle; great-grandsons Kaden, Kolby and Kamden Hall also of Tuttle; daughter-in-law Donna Davis of Chickasha; nieces, nephews, and other extended family; and a special mention of his cherished church family.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
