Funeral services for George Richard Davis, 62, of Norman, formerly of Chickasha, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Kim Hayes officiating.
George Richard Davis, known as Rick, was born November 20, 1955 in Hayward, California to George Ronald Davis and Helen Louise (Tatum) Davis. He died Saturday, November 10, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Rick moved to Chickasha as a youngster and attended Chickasha Public Schools, graduating in 1974. He was in the Chickasha High School Band and attained many honors, playing every instrument except the flute. After graduation he attended OU and OSU.
He married Diane McWhorter in April 1977 and to this union his daughter, Ashley was born.
Rick was employed as a trim and finish carpenter for many years. He later got his cosmetology degree and began employment with SmartStyle Hair Salons as a manager.
On May 1, 1982, he married Donna Wilson and they were married 36 years.
He loved listening to music and he won many awards for writing stories.
Rick was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; his mother, Helen Davis; son, George Andrew Davis; and nephew, Ryan Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Justin Heddy of Lacey, Washington; father, George Davis of Chickasha; sister and brother-in-law, Cyndi and Barry Hall of Cement; nephew, Zach Hall and his wife, Heather and their sons, Kaden, Kolby, and Kamden, of Bridge Creek; and many extended family members.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, November 18th from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home.
Cremation arrangements and interment in Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
