Funeral services for Gaylord Irwin Couch, Sr., 86, of Blanchard, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Sturgell officiating and Gayland Cannon assisting.
Gaylord Irwin Couch, Sr. was born on October 25, 1930 in Colony, Oklahoma, the son of Irwin Couch and Leona (Maggard) Couch. He died at his home in Blanchard on September 1, 2017.
Gaylord grew up in the Cogar, Colony, and Binger area and attended school at Cogar and Binger.
On December 4, 1951, he married Ida Dorothy Lesperance and they were married for over 65 years until her death in February 2017.
Gaylord had also lived in Collinsville, El Reno, Cement, and Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He and Ida moved to Chickasha in 1976. He was employed at several filling stations, Allen’s Canning Company, Sequoia Carpet Mills in Anadarko and he retired from Maremont.
He liked fishing and hunting and raising his farm animals and living on his 10 acres. He also enjoyed country music.
He was preceded in death by both parents; wife, Ida; daughter, Karen Morrow; sister, Lodema Buckmaster; four brothers, Charles, Ralph, Elgie, and Thomas Cannon.
Survivors include sons, Ivan Couch and wife, Roena of Chickasha, Gaylord Couch Jr. of Blanchard, and Eldon LaFontaine and wife, Cordia of Oklahoma City; daughters, Gail Reinhart and husband, Gordon of Blanchard and Jean Duffey of Blanchard; sisters, Melba Hacker and husband, Eugene, and Zane Farris; brothers, Nuby Cannon and wife, Carolyn, and Gayland Cannon and wife, Sandy; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
