Funeral services for Freddie Charles Martin, 74, of Pocasset, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kim Hayes officiating.
Freddie Charles Martin, known as Fred, was born on May 10, 1943 in Spiro, Oklahoma, the son of Gusona Neal Martin, Sr. and Velva Tean (Flaherty) Martin. He died on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at his home in Pocasset, Oklahoma.
Fred grew up around Spiro, Oklahoma until he was 15 years old. He then moved to Ninnekah where he attended and graduated from Ninnekah High School.
He was employed most of his adult years in the oilfield, working in various positions, lastly as an oilfield consultant, retiring two years ago.
In 1963, Fred married Venita Nye and they had three boys, Darren, Dean, and Greg. Later in 1979, he married Joyce LaDonna King and they were married until her passing in 2003.
In 2007, he married Linda (Townley) Ballard in Ninnekah, Oklahoma. They had the last ten years together.
Fred was a hard worker and liked welding, farming, and raising horses and cattle, he also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching old westerns, and playing games on his computer. He loved dancing and singing, and he especially loved being with his family.
He was preceded in death by both parents; infant brother, Henry Eugene Martin; wife, Joyce Martin; brothers, William Edward Martin and Gusona Neal Martin, Jr.; step-daughter, Donna Satterwhite; niece, Leanna Michelle Duke; and nephew, Jerry Don Jobe.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; sons, Darren Wade Martin and wife, Kristy, of Chickasha, Charles Dean Martin of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Gregory Lynn Martin and wife, Penny, of Ninnekah; sisters, Lela Duke of Keota, Delores Jobe and husband, Fred, of Westcliffe, Colorado, Lula Brueske of Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin and Jewell Dart of Ft. Smith, Arkansas ; step-children, Micheal and Whitney Ballard, Jeff and Marissa Ballard, and Keith Satterwhite; grandchildren, Michaela Martin, Bailee Martin, Alexa Martin, Cian Martin, Rebecca Martin, Liam Martin, Jordan Martin, Jessie Martin, Jacob Martin, Flint Hanks, Heather Hanks, Richard and Paige Walker, Hali Satterwhite, Summer Satterwhite, Addison Ballard, Denver Ballard, Easton Ballard, Gunnison Ballard, Luke Ballard and Mackenzie Ballard; great-grandchildren, Peighton Hanks, Kristion Walker, Adrian Satterwhite, Remington Walker, Faith Pedraza, and Avi Moreno; nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in the Pocasset Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
