Funeral services for Flossie Dee Mead, 70, of Chickasha, will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Alice Wendling officiating and Eric Thornburg assisting.
Flossie Dee Mead was born on September 4, 1944 in Lindsay, Oklahoma, the daughter of Steve L. Lail and Lily (Tullus) Lail. She died Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Flossie grew up in Lindsay and Chickasha. As a young girl she pulled cotton and chopped broomcorn with her family.
She was married at a young age to William David Buchanan and from this union five children were born. She later married Walter Mead.
Flossie was employed over the years as a waitress at various restaurants and as an assembly line worker at manufacturing facilities, but for the majority of her life she made a loving home, in which to raise her family.
She loved spending time with her family, cooking for them and she also liked to play practical jokes on her many loved ones. She used to love playing Pac-Man and she liked to take secret selfies.
She was preceded in death by her father, Steve Lail; mother, Lily Bombsburger; step-father, Claude Bombsburger; grandson, Troy Buchanan; brother, Junior Lail; sisters, Christine Lail, Claudia Ann Jackson, Jeanie Buchanan, and Peggy Lail; aunt, who was like a mom, Pearl Griffie; nephew, Donald Douglas Lail; and daughter-in-law, Katrina Buchanan.
Survivors are brothers, Don and Steve Lail; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jacquelin Buchanan; daughter and son-in-law, Lily and Barry Thompson; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Elaine Buchanan; daughter and son-in-law, Clairessa and Don Shelton; son, Brian Buchanan; grandsons that she helped raise, David Buchanan, Jr. and Josh Moore; grandchildren, Misty Buchanan Shelton, Michelle Barnes, Wendy Ward, Ron Ward, Misty Moore, TJ Moore, Jeremy Shelton, Jered Shelton, Krystal Davis, Christopher Thompson, Barry Thompson, Jr., Kelly Lail, Shawna Lail, Donnie Lail, Nita Milligan, and Angie Jarman; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jasper, and Jayden Mieselbach, Felicity, Claire, and Addison Buchanan, Roy, Jacob, and Katelyn Ward, Chloe, Chase, Roy, and Noah Ward, Kathryn and Kiersten Barnes, Dakota Woods, and Riley Shelton; many extended family and friends; she was a mother to many and will be missed deeply.
Services and interment at Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
