Funeral services for Florene “Flo” Cofer, previously of Ninnekah, will be held at the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015.

Florene “Flo” Williams Cofer was born October 25, 1925 to Zennie Williams and Emily (Smith) Williams in Quinton, Oklahoma. She passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas.

In 1928 her family moved to Alex, Oklahoma, and later, after the fifth grade, she moved from Alex to Ninnekah. She remained in Ninnekah Schools until she graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1942.

She married John Elton Cofer on December 25, 1942. They had been residents of Ninnekah, Oklahoma since 1947. Florene and Elton owned Willow Valley Angus Farm. She worked every evening at the farm after getting home from work from her day job at Arkla Gas Company. She worked at Arkla Gas as an office manager from 1951 until she retired in 1985. Florene lived in Ninnekah until 2007, when she moved to Texas.

Flo was a member of the National Secretary Association, Oklahoma Angus Association, Ninnekah Mothers Club, AARP, Oklahoma Farm Bureau, and The Assemble of God Church.

Florene Cofer was preceded in death by her husband John Elton Cofer; parents, Zennie and Emily Williams; three brothers, Zennie Williams Jr., Charles Williams, and Wayne Williams; two sisters, Ruby Wright and Katherine Williams.

Florene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lesa Cofer Schaffer and Larry Schaffer and her one and only grandson, Colton D. Schaffer, which was the apple of her eye, all from Texas. She is also survived by one sister Virginia Williams Poag of Chickasha, one brother Elroy Williams from Pampa Texas, and an extended family by choice Arthur and Lorita Schultz, Patrick and Trudy Schultz, Michael and Donna Schultz, Patricia Terry, and Amy Fulton all from the Ninnekah area; and many nieces and nephews.

She will be buried in the Ninnekah Cemetery next to her husband John Elton Cofer.

Services and interment are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
