Funeral services for Evelyn Nina Hubbard, 76, of Chickasha, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Clara Mayo Beverly officiating and Lynn Mefford assisting.

Evelyn Nina (Gilbert) Hubbard was born January 4, 1939 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Ivan Phillip Gilbert and Juanita Lillian (Jewel) Gilbert. She died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Marlow, Oklahoma.

As a young girl, Evelyn moved with her family to Dutton, Oklahoma. She attended school and graduated from Verden High School in 1956. Right out of high school she began working as a teller at Oklahoma National Bank, where she worked for several years before and after moving to Texas.

On October 23, 1963, Evelyn married Charles Hubbard in Chickasha. They moved to Arlington, Texas in the mid 1960’s and came back to Chickasha in 1971. They were married for 27 years and for the majority of that time she was a stay at home mom. In 1991, Charles preceded her in death. Evelyn lived here until 2012 when she moved to Duncan with her daughter and son-in-law.

She loved watching any type of sport on TV and was an avid OU Football fan. She attended OU Women’s Basketball games with her friend, Stephen Canfield. She liked going to casinos with her brother and sister-in-law and attended the horse races several times a year. She also enjoyed cruises and going anywhere her travels took her.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Dutton.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ivan and Juanita Gilbert; brother, Ivan Gilbert; and an extended family member, Lee Looper.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Roger Wheeler of Duncan; granddaughter and partner, Kellee Herrera and Dakota Dennis of Marlow; great-granddaughter, Laykenn Dennis of Marlow; grandson, Rance Wheeler of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Margaret Gilbert of Pocasset; nephew and wife, Billy Bob and Michele Gilbert; great-niece, Brighton Gilbert; great-niece and spouse, Brooke and D. J. Johnson; great-nephew, Jett Johnson; extended family, Linda Wheeler Looper, Renee Looper, and RyLee Looper.

Services and interment in Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
