Funeral services for Eva Nell Rodgers, 77, of Ninnekah, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2018 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Layman officiating.
Eva Nell (Selph) Rodgers was born October 30, 1940 at home in Stewart County, Tennessee, the daughter of Cecil A. Selph and Zeffie Mae (Odam) Selph. She died Thursday, September 27, 2018 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Eva was raised in Erin, Tennessee on a tobacco farm with eight brothers and sisters.
She married Melvin Nixon on April 16, 1960 and moved to California where her five children were born. Life brought her to Comanche, Oklahoma in 1974 where she raised her children and she later moved to Ninnekah to be near her children.
Eva loved sports and played basketball in high school; she followed the “Packers” and was a natural “cheesehead”
She was preceded in death by both parents, her daughters, Nancy Heusel and Billie Joe Nixon and seven siblings.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Leroy Davidson of Blanchard and Brenda and David Miller of Blanchard; son and daughter-in-law, Albert Ray and Kathy Nixon; grandchildren Timothy Keck of Broken Bow, Tabitha Miller of Blanchard, Miles Davidson of Blanchard, and Madeline Davidson of Blanchard; one brother, Harold Selph; two great-grandchildren and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction Ferguson Funeral Home.
