Funeral services for Emma Joanne Smith, 76, of Chickasha, will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with David Martinez officiating.
Emma Joanne Smith was born on April 14, 1939 at her grandparents shoe store in Healdton, Oklahoma, the daughter of Marvin M. Collins and Francis L. (Powell) Collins. She died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at her home in Chickasha.
As a child, Emma moved with her family to Cement, where she was raised and spent most of her life. She married Harry Lee Smith on March 14, 1957 in Wichita Falls, Texas and they started their family.
She was always full of joy and smiles. She loved spending time with all her family and her dog, P.D., that she was her companion for seventeen years. Emma also enjoyed cooking and finding new recipes that could cure a sweet tooth. She loved listening to country music and spending time outside in her garden full of flowers.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry Smith, three brothers and one sister, and two sons, Michael and Patrick Smith.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Robin Smith of Chickasha; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and David Voorhies of Chickasha; daughter, Kathy Morgan of Comanche; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family and friends.
Services and interment in Laverty Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
