Funeral services will be held for Elmer L. Sellers, 89, of Chickasha at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kent Hibbard officiating.
Elmer L. Sellers was born on July 10, 1922, in Ada, Oklahoma, the son of Lewis M. ‘Lou’ Sellers and Minnie B. Keeling Sellers. He died on Monday, December 26, 2011, in Chickasha.
Elmer’s family relocated to Chickasha in 1928, when he was still a young boy. He graduated from Friend High School around 1940 and then served in the United States Army Air Corps for three and a half years. During that time he was primarily stationed in England.
Elmer married his wife of sixty-five years, Myrtle Duncan, on June 1, 1946, in Chickasha. They continued to make their home in the Chickasha area. Elmer always worked hard for his family and retired as a truck driver from Gassaway Oil Company.
He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed deer hunting and camping as a way to relax and have fun.
He was preceded in death by: both parents and one infant brother.
Survivors include: wife Myrtle of the home, son Randell Sellers and wife Carol of Lawton, and grandson Zac Sellers of Lawton.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
