Graveside services for Ella Mae Hart, 93, of Oklahoma City, previously of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 in Rose Hill Cemetery with Bryan Kerr officiating.
Ella Mae (Williams) Hart was born December 21, 1925 in Keechi, Oklahoma the daughter of Tom E. Williams and Stella M. (Mathis) Williams. She passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at her home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Ella grew up in the Cement area and attended Keechi schools.
On September 4, 1943, she married Prince James “Jim” Hart and they made their home in Agwam, Oklahoma. They had 60 years together before his passing in August 2003.
Ella made a home for her family while helping Jim in their businesses. They owned and operated numerous family business throughout their lifetimes, including a drilling company in West Texas and California, a machine shop and manufacturer of horse trailers in Chickasha, and a nationwide trucking company in Wisconsin. In her later years, she worked for the State Employment Office in Chickasha for a time.
She loved gardening and was an excellent seamstress, making her children’s clothes as they were growing up. Ella could create some wonderfully decorated cakes and every year she would make Gingerbread houses and cookies for the kids at Christmas. For her family, especially her grandchildren, she made many meals with love. In her later years, after she moved to Oklahoma City, she enjoyed going to events with her daughters and son, visiting with friends and going to the casino, which she always looked forward to.
Ella was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Jim Hart; sister, Mavis Saunders; brothers, Lane and Zane Williams; daughter-in-law, Barb Hart; granddaughter, Jamie Hart; son-in-law, J.L. Williams; and great-grandson, Dustin Scaffetta.
Survivors include her daughters Terry Scaffetta of Oklahoma City, Gerry Kerr of Oklahoma City, Mary Williams of Granbury, Texas and Micki Hart-Grant of Olive Branch, Mississippi; son, Troy Hart of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Nick, Phil, Bryan, Brad, Kellee, Rae, Beth, Jake, Josh, Wendy, Bill and Tracey; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
