Graveside services for Eddie “Jack” Jenkins, 92, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in Fairlawn Cemetery with Pastor Vaughn Wand officiating.
Eddie W. “Jack” Jenkins was born on March 18, 1924 in Cogar, Oklahoma, the son of Claude Jenkins and Olive E. (Braddy) Jenkins. He died on December 1, 2016 at his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Jack came to the Laverty area as a young boy and attended Union Center School.
He joined the United States Army at nineteen years old and served over two years during World War II in the Pacific Ocean and was stationed with the F Troop, 8 th Calvary, 1 st Calvary Division in New Guinea, South Philippines, Luzon, and Bismarck Archipelagoes.
On December 30, 1948 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, Jack married the love of his life, Alpha Louise Spears. They were married almost 65 years when Alpha passed away in July of 2013.
For many years, Jack was a grocery clerk at Clayton’s Grocery and then worked for Dunn’s for a few years before retiring in 1989. He was a tradesman, raised and sold chickens, and enjoyed the local Swap Shop.
Jack was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Alpha, who passed in 2013; granddaughter, Jennifer Smart; one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include his son Charles Ray Jenkins and wife, Beverly, of Ninnekah; daughter, Janice Kay Lee of Chickasha; son, Larry Gene Jenkins and wife, Donna, of Eden, North Carolina; daughter, Patricia Ann Smart and husband, Greg, of Chickasha; five grandchildren, Melissa Jenkins Johnston, David Lynch, Chris Jenkins, Janine Jenkins Hankins and Natalie Smart; five great grandchildren, Chase Jenkins, Shelly Haynes, Holly Jenkins, Noah Hankins and Hannah Hankins; two great-great-grandchild, Mason Daggs and Dakotta Brand; and other extended family and friends.
Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
